Cookie policy
Cookies
On this page
1. Your cookie settings
- Accept minimal means no measurement and no advertising. It is one click, the same as Accept all.
- We keep your choice for 12 months, then ask again. We also ask again if we change what we do with data. The version of these settings you see is
2026-09-17. - Your choice is saved in your browser, so set it again on another device or after you clear your browser data.
- To ask for a copy of what we hold about you, a correction or a deletion, use Your Privacy Choices.
2. The short version
- Two cookies make the site work the way you left it. One remembers the area you searched. One remembers the country, language and currency you chose. Both are written only after you choose something.
- Three stored values stay in your browser: your cookie choices, your answers while you go through the steps, and which version of our Terms you agreed to. They work like cookies but are never sent to us with a page request.
- Measurement and advertising cookies are off unless you allow them. Nothing is sent to a third party for either purpose without your permission.
3. The cookies we use
| Name | Type | What it is for | Category | How long it lasts | Who sets it |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
rq_loc | Cookie | Remembers the area you searched, so the site does not ask again on every page. Written only after you press "use my location", type a postal code or pick a city. We round the coordinates to two decimal places, which is about one kilometre, so it points at a neighbourhood and never at a house. | Preferences | 30 days | Roomquoted |
rq_pref | Cookie | Remembers the country, language and currency you chose. Written only when you choose something yourself, such as the country selector in the footer. It holds three short codes and no personal information. | Preferences | 1 year | Roomquoted |
rq.cookie-consent.v2 | Local storage | Stores your cookie choices, so we do not ask you again. Holds what you allowed, the date you chose, the version of this policy you saw, and whether your browser was sending Global Privacy Control at the time. We also ask again if this policy changes. | Strictly necessary | 12 months, then we ask again | Roomquoted |
rq-funnel-v2 | Local storage | Keeps your answers and your room photo while you are going through the steps, so a closed tab does not lose your work. This one stays in your browser. Facebook and Instagram in-app browsers close tabs without warning, and this is what brings your answers back. | Strictly necessary | 24 hours | Roomquoted |
rq-terms-accepted | Local storage | Records which version of our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy you agreed to, and when. | Strictly necessary | Until you clear it | Roomquoted |
rq.cookie-consent.v1Being removed | Local storage | The older version of your cookie choices. If you made your cookie choice on an earlier version of this site, we carry it forward rather than asking you from scratch, then remove this key. | Strictly necessary | Read once, then replaced by version 2 | Roomquoted |
A cookie is a small file the site asks your browser to keep. Local storage is the same idea with a bigger box, and it is never sent to us with a page request. It stays on your device until it is cleared.
4. The four categories
Every cookie belongs to one of four groups. The group decides whether we need to ask you first.
Strictly necessary
Needed to load pages and to remember the choices you have made. These are always on, because the site cannot work without them.
Preferences
Remembers a setting you picked yourself, such as your country or your area. Never used to build a profile of you.
Measurement
Counts visits and shows us which steps people get stuck on. Off until you allow it, and never used to advertise.
Advertising
Lets us advertise on Facebook and Instagram and see which ads worked. This is the group that builds a profile of you. Off until you allow it, and always off when your browser sends Global Privacy Control.
5. Global Privacy Control
Some browsers and browser extensions can send a signal called Global Privacy Control. It tells every site you visit not to sell or share your information for advertising, so you do not have to set it on each site one at a time.
We honour it. When your browser sends it, advertising is forced off here whatever is stored on your device, and the advertising control in our panel is switched off and locked with the reason shown next to it. We also record, alongside your choice, that the signal was on, so there is a record that we honoured it.
We do not switch measurement off for the signal, because Global Privacy Control is about selling and sharing your information for advertising. Our measurement counts visits and is never used to advertise to you. You can still turn it off in your cookie settings above.
6. Third parties
Measurement and advertising cookies come from these companies, and only if you allow the matching category in your settings:
| Company | What they do | Their policy |
|---|---|---|
| Meta Platforms | Advertising on Facebook and Instagram, and measuring which ads worked. Off until you allow advertising. | Privacy policy |
| Counting visits. Off until you allow measurement. | Privacy policy |
We never send your room photo, your project description or your contact details to an advertising company. That is in the privacy policy too.
7. Clearing cookies yourself
You can delete cookies and stored data in your browser settings at any time. If you do, we lose the area you searched, the country you chose and your cookie choices, so the choice panel appears again on your next visit. Nothing else about you is affected, and Roomquoted keeps working.
Using your browser in private mode works too. Some browsers block storage entirely in that mode, and the site is built to work when they do.
